In the movie, Rush Hour 4, Detective Carter and his new partner, Chinese-American Detective Lee, get separate calls from a man claiming that someone is trying to kill him. The two detectives rush to where he said the attack was going to take place--a crowded subway platform--but arrive too late. A bomb has gone off and a series of explosions rocks the city. After fighting their way through a chaotic backdrop of terrified commuters and police officers in search of clues, they find four men holding onto each other on a train car where another bomb has already been detonated. Carter manages to talk one man into surrendering while Lee keeps the other three from escaping. It turns out they are a bomb squad originally assembled to disarm a Russian nuclear bomb that went missing. They had disarmed an American nuclear bomb, but found themselves in a Mexican prison when the Russians tried to keep them from talking about it. With their help, Detective Lee and Detective Carter find the missing Russian bomb and disarm it before it can destroy Los Angeles.
